マガタマ Magatama
- Description
- Custom
The Yasakani no Magatama is one of the three sacred treasures,
passed down through generations as a symbol of imperial regalia.
It is said to have been lost in the sea during the Battle of Dan-no-ura,
only to be recovered once more.
Inspired by this history,
a blue diamond is set to evoke both the sacred regalia
and the vast, untamed ocean.
Drawing from the belief that the three treasures represent the three deities,
the front of the magatama features a moon and clouds,
expressed through engraving and tanzanite.
Often seen as a symbol of life itself,
the magatama carries a quiet sense of vitality.
A presence that gently rests close to the heart.

Story of Magatama
Magatama (Comma-shaped-Jewels)
The Magatama is considered to be one of the oldest ornaments worn by the Japanese. The original Magatama were made from the tusks of animals and used as necklaces during the Jomon period, and gradually came to be used in rituals and prayers. The material of Magatama gradually changed from tusks to jasper or agate, and during the Kofun period, they were often used as ornaments for the ruling class.
In the later compilation of the Kojiki (A historical book containing Japanese mythology of Japan. Also, the oldest extant book in Japan), it is said that Magatama was made by Tama-no-oya-no-Mikoto, the ancestor of ball makers, during the event of Iwato-gakure "hiding in Iwato” in which Amaterasu Omikami hid herself in the Ama no Iwato "heavenly rock cave". And later became famous as one of the "Three Sacred Treasure" that Ninigi no Mikoto carried with him when he descended from Takamagahara (the heavenly realm) to the Ashihara no Nakatsukuni (the earthly realm, mainly referring to Japan).

Gem stones
Natural Gemstones
Like hand carving, the use of natural gemstones expresses the beauty found in imperfection.
In Japan’s ancient nature-based beliefs, including Shinto traditions, stones and sacred rocks have long been objects of reverence. This sense of respect toward natural stones is also reflected in our creations as part of Japanese cultural heritage.
TEGAMI Products
Jewelry that brings a sense of Japanese aesthetics into modern style.
To preserve the warmth and texture of handcraftsmanship, each jewelry master model is carved by hand.
In traditional Japanese ceramics and tea ware, subtle irregularities and natural variations are often regarded as beauty itself. Rather than distant perfection, we value the sense of warmth and familiarity found in imperfection.
We deeply value this aesthetic philosophy that has long been cherished in Japan.
