オオクニヌシ Ōkuninushi

日本神話において、大国主神は
国作りを担った神として知られています。

 

スクナビコナと共に、農業や産業、医療の知識を広め、
豊かな国土を築いたと伝えられています。

 

本作では、その神話をもとに、
出雲大社の社紋に用いられる六角形の意匠を随所に取り入れ、
また、縁結びと五穀豊穣を象徴する唐草模様を施しました。

 

中心には、その豊かな国土を照らす太陽を象徴するように、
ロードライトガーネットを配しています。

 

結び、育み、受け継がれていくもの

オオクニヌシの物語

大国主神
オオクニヌシノカミ

大国主は因幡の白兎を正しい医療の知識を用いて助けた、心優しい青年時代の話が有名です。

義父である須佐之男命（スサノオノミコト）の数々の試練を乗り越えたことで「大国主神」の名を須佐之男命より授かりました。

その後、前述したようにスクナビコナを中心とした様々な神様と出会い、共に広い国土を旅しながら、国土を豊かにし「豊葦原の瑞穂国」を作りました。

未熟で気弱な若者が、数々の試練を乗り越え成長していく物語は、数々の昔話の元にもなっています。

天照大御神へ国譲りをした後は、天照大御神より目に見えない世界を司り、大国主の持つ「むすび」の力によって人々を幸せに導くよういわれました。そして八百万の神様たちが集まれ、その大国主神のために天照大御神が命じて作らせた宮殿が「出雲大社」であり、現在も神無月（１０月）に国中より神様が集う神社として有名です。

In Japanese mythology, Ōkuninushi-no-Kami is
known as the deity who shaped the land.

 

Together with Sukunabikona,
he is said to have brought knowledge of agriculture, industry, and medicine,
cultivating a prosperous nation.

 

Inspired by this myth,
hexagonal motifs—derived from the crest of Izumo Taisha—
are incorporated throughout the ring,
along with arabesque patterns symbolizing connection and abundance.

 

At the center, a rhodolite garnet is set
to evoke the sun that illuminates the fertile land.

Story of Ōkuninushi

Ōkuninushi is a beloved deity in Japanese mythology, known for his kindness, growth, and the power of connection.

One of the most famous stories from his youth tells how he rescued the White Hare of Inaba by using correct medical knowledge. This episode portrays him as a gentle and compassionate young man.

After enduring many difficult trials set by his father-in-law, Susanoo no Mikoto, he was finally recognized for his strength of character and was given the divine name "Ōkuninushi no Kami".

Later, Ōkuninushi traveled throughout the land together with Sukunabikona and many other deities. As they journeyed, they shared knowledge of agriculture, medicine, and craftsmanship, transforming the land into a fertile and prosperous country known as Toyoa shihara no Mizuho no Kuni, an ancient name for Japan.

After peacefully offering the land to Amaterasu Ōmikami, the sun goddess, Ōkuninushi was entrusted with governing the unseen, spiritual world. Through his sacred power of "musubi", the ability to bind people, relationships, and destinies together, he is believed to guide people toward happiness.

For this reason, he is widely worshipped as a god of good relationships, harmony, and prosperity.
The grand shrine built in his honor, "出雲大社 Izumo Taisha", remains famous today as the place where the gods of Japan are said to gather every October.
